The Best Places to get Engagement Photos in Raleigh, North Carolina

You’re engaged! It’s time to start planning your engagement pictures, and one of the biggest decisions is WHERE should you take photos at? My goal is always to ease your stress, so I’ve created a list of my absolute favorite engagement session locations in Raleigh, NC.

Here are the top places to take engagement photos in and around Raleigh.

1. Raleigh Rose Garden

The Raleigh Rose Garden is a “secret garden” of sorts, tucked away in the city and absolutely beautiful, with many varieties of roses in the well maintained garden beds. There is a lovely curved arbor which provides unique architecture for photo back drops. There is no fee or reservations require to take photos there.

2. North Carolina Museum of Art

The outdoor grounds of the NC Art Museum are open to the public and available even with the museum is closed. The unique pools and statues allow for more editorial style images. The pathways around the building are great for more nature-y images. Even in the winter, it’s a beautiful photo location.

3. Downtown Raleigh

There are so many creative places we can walk around downtown Raleigh. The walkway between the North Carolina Museum of Natural History is the perfect spot for street style photos, without having to worry about cars. The capitol building is beautiful and historic. There are many old churches that allow for photos on the front steps.

Bonus: The streets are beautifully decorated during Christmastime!

4. A Meaningful Restaurant

Okay, let’s get a little personal! Raleigh is filled with unique and quirky restaurants and bars. If there is a place you and your fiance love eating at, or maybe it’s the bar you met at, I would love to capture your love story there! A great location is The Raleigh Times. They have multiple bars and an upstairs area, so plenty of space in case you’re trying to get away from the crowd.

5. Boylan Bridge

This bridge provides the perfect view of downtown Raleigh if you’re looking to feature your city’s skyline in your engagement photos. Close to Dix Park, these two locations are great to pair together for your session.

6. JC Raulston Arboretum

The arboretum is an incredible botanical garden landscape. There are so many varieties of plants and so many options for backdrops. From early spring to late fall, this location is absolutely beautiful.

7. Historic Yates Mill

This location is little more rustic with lots of space to explore. There’s a small waterfall, walking trails, and lots of woods for backdrops.

8. Azalea Gardens

These quiet gardens are a stunning engagement session location. The azaleas are the main attraction, but it is still beautiful even when they aren’t blooming, with other plants growing and winding walking paths.
