Everything You Need To Pack For The Best Wedding Day Detail Photos | Winston Salem Wedding Photographer

As your wedding photographer, I want to make sure you’re getting the very best wedding day detail photos. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by packing a well-thought-out details bag. Not only does this ensure that nothing is missed, but it also helps me style your detail shots beautifully, ultimately adding a rich layer of storytelling to your wedding album.

I know there are so many things to think about as your wedding day approaches, which is why I recommend using this list as a checklist. By gathering as many of these items as you can a few weeks before the wedding, you’ll save yourself stress later on. Once everything is collected, place it all together in a bag with your other to-go bags for your wedding day. This way, you’ll be organized and ready, ensuring that every detail is captured perfectly.

Here is your ultimate wedding day details checklist of the top things you NEED to get those elegant, Pinterest-worthy detail images.

For the Brides

1. Invitation Suite: Include the full invitation suite with all the pieces—invitation, RSVP card, envelopes, and any other inserts. This is a beautiful way to set the tone and showcase your wedding theme.

2. The Rings: Both your engagement ring and wedding bands (bride’s & groom’s) should be included. If you have a special ring box, like a custom or vintage one, this can add a personal touch.

3. Shoes: Your wedding shoes are a statement piece. Whether they’re classic white heels, colorful pumps, or even something a bit unconventional, they deserve their moment in the spotlight.

4. Jewelry: Pack your earrings, necklace, bracelet, and any other pieces you’ll be wearing. If any of these items are heirlooms, it makes the photos even more meaningful.

5. Perfume: The bottle of your wedding day perfume is not only a lovely detail to photograph, but it also will remind you of those memories every time you wear it after the big day.

6. Veil: Whether you’re wearing a traditional veil or something more modern, having this piece in your details bag allows me to incorporate it into your photos, even as an elegant backdrop to the details.

7. Vow Book: If you’re writing your own vows, bring your vow book. It adds a personal touch and becomes a meaningful keepsake.

8. Sentimental Items: Don’t forget any family heirlooms, letters, handkerchiefs, or other special items that mean something to you.

9. Loose Floral Stems: Ask your florist to provide some extra loose stems or petals for me to incorporate into your detail shots. They add texture and color, tying everything back to your overall wedding theme.

10. Unique Twists: Consider including something unique like a fun frame or box, or polaroids you and your bridesmaids took the morning of. These can create interesting layers and depth in your detail shots.

Bonus Tip: Let me know your wedding colors and theme ahead of time. I’ll bring matching ring boxes, ribbons, and backgrounds to tie everything together seamlessly.

For the Grooms

1. Cufflinks: Whether they’re a classic design or a gift from a loved one, cufflinks are a great way to showcase the groom’s style.

2. Tie Clip: If the groom is wearing one, include it in the details bag. It’s often an overlooked detail that adds a polished touch.

3. Shoes: Just like the bride’s shoes, the groom’s footwear is part of the story. Make sure they’re polished and ready for their close-up!

4. Tie or Bow Tie: Whether he’s going for a tie or a bow tie, this is another key detail that helps define the overall look.

5. Cologne: The groom’s cologne bottle can add a masculine touch to the detail shots and serve as a reminder of the scent of the day.

6. Watch: A classic accessory, the watch adds a timeless element to the groom’s detail photos.

7. Flask: If the groom has a special flask, include it! It’s a fun and often personal item that adds character to the shots.

8. Boutonniere: Don’t forget to include the boutonniere! It’s the floral element that ties the groom’s look back to the bride’s bouquet.
